Lupus Therapeutics, the clinical research affiliate of the Lupus Research Alliance, oversees LuCIN, a novel network of leading medical research in North America, to help progress clinical trials forward faster for sponsors/investigators and ensure individuals enrolled receive the best overall care and lead studies to achieve the best outcomes.

LuCIN Goals

LuCIN clinicians collaborate with biopharmaceutical company partners to identify the most promising lupus treatments and conduct clinical trials to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of these potential therapies. The investigators and other specialized teams within LuCIN have deep expertise in planning and conducting clinical research into lupus diagnostics, assessment, and treatment. LuCIN is supported by Lupus Therapeutics and the Lupus Research Alliance.

LuCIN aims to:

Improve patient access to promising new lupus therapies and diagnostics from top researchers and industry partners

Centralize expertise in lupus study design and program strategy

Improve existing outcomes measures

Evaluate novel biomarkers

Archive clinical data and biospecimens to expand the scope of scientific inquiry

Help train and mentor new clinical research investigators

LuCIN Value

Combining LuCIN with the Lupus Therapeutics full suite of services and capabilities—including consultative and study start-up services—streamlines the research process, resulting in earlier site identification, appropriate patient enrollment, and optimizing trial conduct for the best chance of success.

While clinical research organizations (CROs) generally reach out to community-based hospitals for access to patient populations, Lupus Therapeutics developed LuCIN, a network of premier clinical research centers to ensure patients receive the best care through access to clinical trials and partnership with lupus experts. Lupus-focused centers contacted by Sponsors and CROs frequently refer them to Lupus Therapeutics because of the expertise, infrastructure to support the LuCIN centers, established processes including budget/contract support, and the ecosystem of relationships.
